Concert pianist and Conservatory teacher, Carol Comune, will offer a free performance at the Lamington Presbyterian Church in Bedminster Sunday, Nov. 22 at 3:00.
This special program, supported by the Eastern Conservatory of Music and Arts, will highlight children’s involvement in music.
Although Ms. Comune is passionate about sharing her love of music with people of all ages, she is especially fervent about her work with children.
Guest artist, thirteen year-old Gealyn Comune Clegg, Ms. Comune’s daughter, will perform several duets with her mother, including a premier original composition, Gealyn and Me. She will also perform story telling at the piano with a narration of Sleeping Beauty.
Other piano selections will include Schumann, Brahms, Debussy, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff.
Ms. Comune, an active soloist, composer, accompanist, and recording artist, is noted for her charismatic performances, colorful and imaginative playing, and diverse programming.
A graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music in Piano Performance, working with principal teachers David Hagan and Anthony di Bonaventura. She studied Piano Pedagogy with Jean Stackhouse and Composition with Donald Waxman. Ms. Comune was a former faculty piano member, accompanist and chamber coach for the New England Conservatory Prep School; New School of Music, Berklee, MA; Palm Beach Atlantic University and Lynn University, FL; and an active private studio for over 30 years. She has been featured artist at the New England Conservatory of Music; the Gardner Museum; Lincoln Center and Steinway Hall in NYC; Flagler Museum and Kravis Center in Palm Beach; and National Public Radio.
She has taught, coached and accompanied hundreds of students, many of whom have been recipients of achievement awards, winners of competitions for performance, and placement in gifted schools and conservatories of music.
Gealyn Comune Clegg has studied piano with her mother since she was 2 ½. A seventh grade student at Shawnee Middle School in Easton, she is a member of Junior Strings Philharmonic of Lehigh Valley. Before moving to Easton, she participated annually since the age of four in the Florida State MTA Student Day with honors in Theory and Honors in Performance, completing Level VI. She won first place in original composition for The Ladybugs Reunion, sponsored by Palm Beach Music Teachers Association in 2008.
Casey Bork, Conservatory director, said, Not only is this a delightful Sunday afternoon event at the Conservatory, it also provides an excellent opportunity for potential new students to see this multi-talented teacher in concert. She is accepting new students at the Conservatory, even beginners.
